On October 20, 2020, the technical appraisal meeting for the achievement of the "Fully Automatic Surface Sizing Starch Continuous Preparation System for Paper Making" jointly organized by Hubei Paper Association and Hubei Paper Society was held in Wuhan. The system was developed by China Light Industry Wuhan Design Engineering Co., Ltd. The meeting invited Mr. Qi Yongyi, former Vice President and Technical Director of Haicheng Co., Ltd., Professor Xie Yimin, Dean of the Paper Research Institute at Hubei University of Technology, Mr. Fu Yuquan from Hubei Light Industry Research and Design Institute, Mr. Yan Honglin, Deputy General Manager of Jinfenghuang Paper Industry (Xiaogan) Co., Ltd., and Mr. Peng Yichun, General Manager of Shashi Light Industry Machinery Co., Ltd. to form an expert group.
After listening to the introduction of our company's achievements, the expert group put forward relevant suggestions for subsequent system extension research, market promotion, and other aspects. The expert group believes that this research achievement has the following innovative achievements: firstly, the system realizes continuous operation and automated control, effectively reducing labor intensity; Secondly, the quality stability of the rubber produced by the system is significantly better than that of traditional intermittent cooking systems; Thirdly, the system has significant energy-saving and consumption reducing effects; Fourthly, the operating environment and production safety have been significantly improved; The fifth is to reduce land area and save labor costs.
After evaluation, the expert group unanimously believes that the achievement has reached the international advanced level.
The fully automatic surface sizing starch continuous preparation system for papermaking uses native corn starch or cassava starch as raw materials, using α- Amylase degrades natural starch with long molecular chains, and the degraded starch gel is suitable for surface sizing in papermaking. Compared with traditional intermittent preparation processes, the fully automatic surface sizing starch continuous preparation system for papermaking has advantages such as high automation, high production efficiency, low production energy consumption, and stable quality of the produced glue, and is increasingly recognized by the papermaking industry. In the past, due to the lack of mature and reliable fully automatic surface sizing starch preparation systems provided by domestic enterprises, the automatic surface sizing starch continuous preparation system mainly relied on imports from abroad, with high investment. Most small and medium-sized paper projects in China, from the perspective of saving investment, could only choose intermittent cooking process and equipment.
The automation level and process equipment level of this research achievement have reached the international advanced level, which can replace imported products and reduce the investment burden of enterprises. It will be accepted by most new papermaking projects in China.
At present, a large part of the paper production lines in China still use intermittent preparation technology for surface sizing starch preparation. The starch adhesive produced by intermittent preparation has problems such as unstable quality, high labor intensity, poor operating environment, high production safety hazards, high energy consumption, and difficult recruitment. Therefore, the use of a fully automatic surface sizing starch continuous preparation system for papermaking has broad market prospects for the transformation and upgrading of existing systems.
